As we prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, it is important to remind ourselves the dangers these colorful explosives pose to us. A U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Analysis found that 18 people died in non-occupational firework incidents in the U.S. in 2020, an increase on 12 deaths recorded in 2019. Unsurprisingly, 66% of all firework injuries in 2020 occurred around the Fourth of July period, between June 21st and July 21st.

What could go wrong on a boat?

What better way to welcome the warmer seasons than by feeling the ocean’s breeze through your hair, the sun prickling your skin, and gazing out at the water? The answer to most is, “nothing!” Although the statistics on injury and accidents in the sea are slim to none compared to those on land, the truth of the matter is that they still happen. In 2020, 767 people died as a result of boating accidents and 3,191 were injured in the United States alone.
